In this video, I demonstrate my horizontal setup for the 4×5 Intrepid enlarging system, which I primarily use to create wild horse prints. By using a reducing back on my 8×10 camera, I transform it into a versatile enlarger. Instead of a typical enlarging lens, I use my high-quality 8×10 camera lenses to ensure exceptional image quality. The camera is securely mounted on a sturdy wooden shop table, allowing me to project the image onto a vertical surface.
Just a quick note—I’ve created a ‘Gear for Sale‘ page as I begin downsizing the equipment I’ve collected over the years. I’m regularly adding new items, so be sure to check back often!”

This setup is ideal for making split-grade black-and-white silver gelatin prints. Using various negative carriers, I can enlarge negatives ranging from 35mm, 6×4.5, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9, to 4×5 large format. I hope they eventually release an 8×10 version of this system because it works exceptionally well, enabling me to create enlargements from 8×10 up to 20×24 with precision and ease.
